We need to take immediate action and ask Governor Kasich to Veto Amended Substitute House Bill Number 461 when it hits his deck for signing.

This legislation will do nothing to save costs to divorcing parents and will in turn add addition litigation costs that our equal custody legislation (SB144) would have saved parents.

Signing this into law will be a disaster for all parents in the State of Ohio as it does nothing to speed the process and only adds another layer of unnecessary lawyer involvement. It is time to call for a governor's veto.

The following link it to a Plain Dealer story on this legislation:

If you want to read the bill: http://www.nopeohio.org/Legislation/legislation_006.htm

In checking I see no evidence of public hearings on this bill and no comments were asked for by the legal share holders of this state- the Parents and Children!! The General Assembly should be ashamed of itself for supporting this bill and allowing this shame process to take place when a more comprehensive piece of legislation was present.

Call now (614) 466-3555.

If this bill is not vetoed equal custody legislation in the State of Ohio will be lost forever!!!!

This is the script for calling the Governor’s Office (614) 466-3555:

Hello. My name is _____________ and I calling today to ask that Governor Kasich veto House Bill Number 461. As passed this bill provide no benefit to anyone going thru divorce or custody issues in Ohio’s Family Courts. This legislation will only serve to increase already burdensome legal bills that parents face and further delay an already slow process.

These delays will further harm the children of the State of Ohio while guaranteeing no final outcome.  The status quo of removing fit parents from the lives of their children must end now.

I am also concerned that there is no evidence that legislation of this type was brought before the public for comment through public hearings.

Please tell Governor Kasich to veto this legislation as soon as possible.
